ABOUT MWSBL
Muslim Women’s Summer Basketball League (MWSBL) is a Toronto-based not-for-profit basketball league dedicated to uniting women (age 13+) every summer through the sport. MWSBL was expected to launch league play in the summer of 2020 but was postponed due to COVID-19. Over the years, the organization built a platform to honour, highlight, and showcase the story of inspirational Muslim female hoopers around the world on their Facebook and Instagram accounts. In the summer of 2022, we had our first season which consisted of 8 teams (8 to 10 players) for seven weeks from July 3rd to August 28th at TARIC Mosque, in the West End of Toronto.
MISSION
Our mission is to create an environment where Muslim women feel included, belonged, and valued as athletes.
To foster sisterhood, mentorship and inclusive community through basketball while empowering and advocating for Muslim women.
